New Project > DHRN.ca: DotCom Media is very pleased to announce a partnership with UBC, UBCO and DHRN. The Disabilities Health Research Network (DHRN) is an integrated, multidisciplinary, and BC-based network that is seen as a leader in fostering high quality research and valuable community connections to better the lives of Canadians living with disability, improving relevant clinical practices for the benefit and health of persons with disability, and leading to improved policies around disability health related issues.
DotCom Media, soon to be Csek Creative, is excited about the opportunity to collaborate with UBC, UBCO and DHRN to help enhance the DHRN's brand with a new website experience and content management system, and introduce online networking opportunities through the new website to its membership as well.

The year for DotCom Media was filled with some very amazing events. To start with, we want to thank all our clients for the exceptional opportunities they have given us to be creative. Together we launched 7 brands, 36 websites, 4 of which were PCI-compliant e-commerce, and all of which were managed by our custom built CMS we've codenamed "Simple" because of it's ease-of-use. Another high-point was when Ryan and Spiro joined Nikki and Jim in ownership of the company. [full article]

Feature Project > Braylin.com: A Custom Built Website for a Custom Home Builder. Winters in Kelowna mean among many other things, “it's Tommie season”. Central Okanagan builders and developers have pulled together their “best-of-the-best” and submitted their finished works to the Canadian Home Builders' Association Central Okanagan (CHBA-CO) for consideration for the CHBA-CO's annual Tommie Awards. Google Analytics: A Case Study. Website Analytics isn't new. The software has been around for awhile, but little was invested to improve on reporting features for the longest time. Then Google Analytics came onto the scene. Long-story-short, Google Analytics was first released in late 2005 as a product aimed at marketers with information and reporting features that would help businesses make informed decisions on the direction of their website and their online marketing efforts. Google Analytics is free to use, but generally takes you or your website design / development team an hour or two to install fully.

Feature Project > Rutland Waterworks: Rebranded and Relaunched. Last month DotCom Media launched the last step in rebranding Rutland Waterworks image when we launched the newly redesigned RutlandWaterworks.com. The site redesign followed a new logo that was rolled out last year. [full article]

Twitter Takedown! -  The Methods Behind Their Madness. So, here is a quick recap:
  • Dennis had the largest gross follower increase.
  • Ryan had the most net follower increase, Dennis was in the negatives in this category.
  • And Dylan? Well he's the rookie, so he got a cookie just for showing up. Just kidding. Actually, Dylan had the most tweets and positioned himself nicely in the middle of the pack in most of the categories we measured. While working for DotCom and impressing everyone with his programming and creativity, Dylan also built a mini-site that pulls Kelowna-specific information from Twitter. Website Launch > Braylin.com. We would like to congratulate Braylin Contracting on the launch of their new website, Braylin.com. Braylin, well known in the Okanagan Valley for their high quality custom homes, came to DotCom Media in search of an easy to update website which would promote their latest projects. An online portfolio was developed to show off current homes for sale as well as showcase past projects no longer on the market. [full article]

Contracted to help take Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars' business to the next level, DotCom Media's challenge was to enhance the winery's website experience. Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars is a winery and vineyard located near Okanagan Falls. Situated in a lovely valley with a picturesque setting, DotCom Media created a winery website design showcases the stunning winery views and brings the audience closer to the international calibre wine the company produces. The unique placement of the secondary navigation within the design makes the website a truly unique and memorable experience – just like the winery itself. Website Launch > BlueMountainWinery.com: We are very pleased to announce the launch of the new BlueMountainWinery.com website. Blue Mountain Winery is a winery and vineyard located near Okanagan Falls. Situated in a lovely valley with a picturesque setting, DotCom Media created a winery website design which would showcase the stunning winery views. The end product was a truly unique and elegant design which draws users in to discover more.

The .cms, which allows Blue Mountain to maintain the website, has been specially customized so that staff may personally change the main page image, giving them control over the imagery on each page.
